I really like the "Full name column select" function.
But currently the selected files are only highlighted at text, I feel it would be intuitive to match the highlight location with its selection location, i.e. highlight the entire name column.
Highlight to match the "Full name column select"

Re: Highlight to match the "Full name column select"
Seems reasonable. But there are lots of factors involved here. Side-effects could be huge. Currently no time for it.

Re: Highlight to match the "Full name column select"
There is a related issue here, in the red-boxed area, click, double click, and drag all act like this red-boxed area is part of the file name.
Kinda like the file name has a "hitbox" if you play games.
But when right click on the read-boxed area, it won't show the file context menu, instead it shows white area context menu.
I think this is inconsistent.
I know you have a lot going on, and I am not expecting a fix any time soon. Just want to share my finding.

Re: Highlight to match the "Full name column select"
I don't think it's inconsistent. It shows the correct menu for the currently selected item. Your double click and drag and drop select those items before doing anything with them. Hence the difference. "A click on white" => Not the selected item offers a full bunch of other options what to do with that click...

If you right click on the file name itself, it shows the file context menu right away, not the "click on white" context menu.highend wrote: ↑05 Mar 2023 09:11 I don't think it's inconsistent. This is obviously inconsistent.

Re: Highlight to match the "Full name column select"
Ofc it doesn't show the click on white context menu if you click on the file name itself^^
If you want to always have the item context menu regardless of where you right-click inside the name column rows, activate:
Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Usability | Mouse | [x] Full name column select
(requires 24.20.0009 or higher).
I don't want this. I use "go up" by double clicking into that "white space"...

Re: Highlight to match the "Full name column select"
Thank you for making it happen Don!
I have tested the latest beta version, and it is exactly what I wanted, very logical! Nice!
To highend, I too also use double click on white to go up, that is preciously why I use full name column selection not the full row selection~I will double click on size column and date modified column. To me this is kinda the best of both worlds if you will.
