Floating preview and PDFs

This is not very new...
When I select a pdf file to see it on the floating preview, three distinct are displayed on the floating window: first a black screen, then a white screen, and finally the pdf I wanted to see. So... It all works (i.e.: I get to see what I want), but it takes a few seconds and it is pretty distracting.
Is this a peculiarity on my machine, or common to others?
Is there a known solution?
I am running 24.10.0002 (at least for now).
I set up the pdf viewing a looong time ago, following the instructions here.
I regularly use Foxit viewer (not sure if that is what xyplorer is using).
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

XY uses the PDF preview handler which is installed on your system.
That is not necessarily the tool used to open or view PDFs.

Do you get (want) a full preview, scrollable thru all the pages? Or just a thumbnail (usually a shot of the first page)?

Either would be fine. The full one would be preferred.

Not to hijack this thread, but how would I get the full preview to be scrollable? Currently I can left-click on the PDF icon and the PDF shows the first page full size as long as I'm holding down the left mouse button. If I right-click on the PDF icon the full first page stays visible until I click anywhere on page. But I can't scroll to other pages.
Thanks.

All PDF preview handlers I know (a lot) support scrolling inside of a preview.
May be you have set to show PDFs as thumbnails in XY.

The problem is that I don't see the problem here. (Using PDF-XChange) Can't do anything.

I created a new thread so as to not hijack the OP.

I believe (but confess I don't know how to check) I am using that too.
Can you point me to instructions how to use it?

Interesting (to me!). With the obsolete example I was able to see which preview formats are in use. The one for PDFs was foxit reader (which is my default), but it was unchecked. If I check it, then I can not preview at all.
Since you are using it, I installed pdf exchange. That makes it work perfectly, but only if pdf exchange is the default associated with pdf. If I change the default back to foxit (which I use to sign documents) then it does not work again.
Thanks for your help. I'll explore a little more, and then decide which tradeoffs will work better for me.
Again, thanks.
And, while I have your ears, thank you for a fantastic product!

In the "obsolete" instruction i was just following (trying to make PDF-XChange Editor (method 2) the default only in xyplorer, I just tried the "magic line" included there. But instead of associating with pdf-xchange, it associates with Microsoft Edge.
Is that magic obsolete? how do I find the magic related to pdf-xchange?
