Preview of video using original size, not reduced?

Post by j_c_hallgren »

 I must be having a bad day...cause I can't seem to determine how to get a WMV file sized at 400x300 to preview at that size and not be reduced to 213x160...
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Make the Preview tab big enough (= emlarge the Info Panel)?

Ok...tried that...but seems there is a sequence needed to do so...which I just stumbled onto...that AFTER one maximizes/enlarges the InfoPanel, I had to reselect the file by selecting another one in interim so that it would reload to new size...is there another trick to it?

And trying to adjust IP size so that preview is exactly at 100% is a tad difficult...

Addendum: Sorta a wish: Any chance for a "slow motion" preview for video? Like half or one/third normal speed...whatever is typical...

Hm. I'm currently not at a location where I can test this, but this dos not sound like it should be. For once, in Configuration/Preview you can opt not to enlarge > 100%. For technical reasons (which might include the current but ever growing capacity of my brain  ) it is not possible to resize a previewed video while it is running or even while it is paused. You have to unload and reload that video to adjust to the current panel size (yep, that calls for improvement .. it's on my list!). However, what you say, to load a different video is not necessary AFAIK.
 It would be a new idea to auto-adjust the panel to the video, though! An option like "Attempt to preview at 100%" [if panel can get that large within current window size]. Good idea? Might be interfering with the list though, which will jump biggger and smaller while different videos are loaded... hmm.

no other trick no, but what you can do is select the file you wanna preview, then maximize the panel (Shift+F12) and do Ctrl+Space twice to de-select/re-select the file (ie update the preview area). Panel is maximized so if your video is still reduced it means it can't be shown at 100% (unless you can enlarge XY window, or disable High Tree to enlarge the panel width...)

Note that this only works if you dont have a multi-selection going on, if you do you'll need to do Ctrl+Up, release the keys, then Ctrl+Down to make the update of the preview.

 I haven't used Ctrl+Space that I recall...so thus that was the trick that I was looking for! 8) (I selected another file as a work-around)

Also, I can understand the limitation on resizing while running/paused...no problem...I was attempting to resize right after selecting it.

:!: :D YES!! Because with this particular size video, when IP is minimal/std size, the video is at 53% which is TOO small...BUT...when I maximize IP, it bumps the size to 179% which is then TOO large!
Thus...IF the IP is big enough to handle image at 100%+, a way to adjust just the size of video preview down to 100% without adjusting IP size at that point would be most desireable...maybe a checkable option in the orange drop-down menu or under the progress bar?

So so... I was surprised to read this because I could not immediately understand why that should be so (but it is!). :? (Yes, I developed this app   ) So I changed it to something more intuitive: now Ctrl+Space always works! :)
