XYPlorer no longer runs.. not responding
I purchased XYPlorer recently and now when I try to run the application on XP SP3 w 2GB RAM I two instances of XYPlorer showing up in the Task list and both of which are Not Responding. Simply running the application by clicking on the link to the exe file.
P.S. This is a no install file version of the product. Just installed the software using the installer version and it runs fine.

Rarely do I hear such things.
I suspect the configuration is corrupted somehow. Kill the processes and try again. If it does not help, try with a fresh "installation" (= run the XYplorer.exe in some temp dir without any other files).

Sorry but now the full install is hanging as well. The last time it was running but locked up when I tried to copy to a networked machine here.

Did XYplorer ever run on your system?fedup wrote:Sorry but now the full install is hanging as well. The last time it was running but locked up when I tried to copy to a networked machine here.

Re: XYPlorer no longer runs.. not responding
I had not been using XYPlorer up until last week when I purchased it when you had the special one day pricing. It had worked ok, although it seemed to take approximately 10 secs or so to show up on my XP Pro SP3 AMD 3500+ computer. However today all it is doing is locking up before it even starts up (no install one) or locks up when I tried to copy to networked machine (full install).admin wrote:Did XYplorer ever run on your system?fedup wrote:Sorry but now the full install is hanging as well. I just now was able to start up the full install version fine but then tried to navigate via XYPlorer to a networked shared folder on another XP Pro SP3 and XYPlorer locked up. I have no problem using XP's My Network Places to navigate to the problem machine.

A start up time that big is a sign of severe problems that are not rooted in XY. However, it's impossible to tell what's going on there.fedup wrote:I had not been using XYPlorer up until last week when I purchased it when you had the special one day pricing. Re: XYPlorer no longer runs.. not responding
The full install starts up fine. I just deleted the no install folder and extracted the rar file and in trial mode it is also starting up ok.
However there is a significant delay with navigating to that same networked folder. I started up the full install XYPlorer and clicked on the problem computer folder and waited. It took 38secs before the contents of the folder were displayed. The same thing occurs with the no install version operating in trial mode and registered mode.
The Not Responding Error shown by Windows XP appears to be caused by XYPlorer trying to open the previous tabs on startup and taking 38 seconds causes windows to generate an erroneous Not Responding message in Task Manager. If one leaves XYPlorer sit there for the 38secs the not responding problem goes away.

Re: XYPlorer no longer runs.. not responding
I have had some issues very similar to what you are describing when connecting to a snap drive here at work. I can browse everything else without any issues but whenever I try to connect to it I experience a bad delay. Once connected, I can usually browse that folder normally but when I go into another folder on that server I get the same delay over again and can then browse that folder. The problem persists the entire time I am connected to it. Windows explorer has the same initial delay as Xyplorer but I don't experience any further issues once the initial connection is made.
I can't reproduce it on any other machines (even a different snap drive) so I didn't post about it here but if this could be related I thought it might be helpful. I tried running clean Xyplorer installs back to the 7.00 beta version I have archived (7.00.0077 I think) and the problem persisted.
I discovered that if I map the drive and then connect using the drive letter instead of the unc path I do not experience the delay. What happens when you map that networked share and then connect to it using the mapping?

Thanks Steve for posting that I am not the only one seeing this problem. Tried your suggestion about mapping a network drive to a drive letter but the problem still exists. Once the timeout ends I can browse the remote machine's drive fine but if I click on a local drive in XYPlorer and then back on the mapped drive the timeout reoccurs.

Is it the same when you use the Mini Tree?fedup wrote:Thanks Steve for posting that I am not the only one seeing this problem. It's a recently added feature which reduces the tree to only the paths you've visited.fedup wrote:Sorry what do you mean by mini-tree?
You can download the latest beta and give it a try by enabling it at View->Mini Tree.

Yes, and additionally MiniTree skips or minimizes certain procedures that might cause or add to the mysterious delay.TheQwerty wrote:It's a recently added feature which reduces the tree to only the paths you've visited.fedup wrote:Sorry what do you mean by mini-tree?

Re: XYPlorer no longer runs.. not responding
One thing that I did notice that the lan machine that I am having problems with has 3 partitions C,D,E and this problem is only occurring on D:, C and E display properly and without the delay. Downloaded and installed the beta over top of XYPlorer version and enabled mini tree.Right away I noticed that the problem partition shows up twice in the mini tree. If I click on either of the duplicated D: it too experiences a delay showing the contents of the D: in the lefthand pane. Eventually its contents shows up. If I then click on C: and browse on C: and then back on D: the delay occurs again.

Thanks for trying. So the problem partition shows up twice in the mini tree. No idea currently what's going on there but obviously something is...fedup wrote:One thing that I did notice that the lan machine that I am having problems with has 3 partitions C,D,E and this problem is only occurring on D:, C and E display properly and without the delay.
