My current state is this:PeterH wrote:Maybe "... of information sources" or something like that?admin wrote:So what about:

Nobody likes to read long sentences, please consider something shorter, maybe something like this?
Most important features in XYplorer with respective links to help documents and videos.

Okay, I'm for it, but "help documents" is not what it is. Most are little promo blurbs plus a screen shot, or Tour chapters.serendipity wrote:Nobody likes to read long sentences, please consider something shorter, maybe something like this?

What about this even shorter one:

Sorry, I did not really follow the links.admin wrote:Okay, I'm for it, but "help documents" is not what it is. Most are little promo blurbs plus a screen shot, or Tour chapters.serendipity wrote:Nobody likes to read long sentences, please consider something shorter, maybe something like this?

But this title sounds good to me, especially because your table is mostly self-explanatory with Text, Video and Wiki on them.
The two arrows next to each other is kind of confusing, maybe you can have them one below another? Or maybe left-align the column having two arrows? Just wondering, not sure about it myself.

Actually, this is what I was trying to say in my first post, but you may have said it clearer than I did.
.Again, I've written similar above...see my point #2...but RalphM didn't appear to agree with me.
Sorry about that, that didn't quite come across for me.
My focus was that it appeared like a feature comparison checklist, which I didn't recall anyone mentioning. I apologize for not giving credit on the other items - they came up as I fleshed out my thoughts.

That's decent, and the way the current chart looks makes a lot more sense, with the "Links to Documentation" column headers.
The only other issue I'd mention is the arrow graphics. There are two issues there - the first is one that others have mentioned, which is that it's not quite clear that each arrow (when more than one appear in a single box) refers to a different link.
The second issue, is that some people might think the arrow has something to do with the information being shown. For example, if this were a feature comparison checklist, an arrow in one column pointing to the right might mean that it applies to the column next to it as well.

Ok, so I'm biased because I wrote the above, but believe it's better than current "points you to various types of information that's available." because it reinforces the links wording, but also shows that it points just to the correct/exact items/portions for that feature, and is less fractured English (IMHO).j_c_hallgren wrote:I still think that a simple change of the "guides you through the doc.." phrase to "provides links to the appropriate sections of the documentation" or something like that would make it clearer.
Right...like I said in my first post in item #3, the "atypical" arrow links were confusing...not sure how to best improve it.Mesh wrote:The second issue, is that some people might think the arrow has something to do with the information being shown. Regarding double arrows: Maybe have a "/" or "|" in between? Or make a table vertical line to split cell into two sub-cells?

Re: FYI: new feature table on website coming
I think most people will work out what the arrows mean. I like them because they match the layout of the website.
I see the point that people might think: the more arrows (as in "5 stars") the better the feature, and that could indeed be improved by arranging them vertically. But hey, ... let's move on to other battles... (e.g. looks like I need to make some videos, ahem...)

When doing such a list, also having links to where the code for those examples exists, even if just in a forum thread, would be beneficial so that user could locate them if/when they wanted to...trying to look at it from script newbie POV, I'd say "that's neat...where do I find code?"admin wrote:Definitely a good idea. But yes, you're right, some more video's are needed...though in meantime, you could publish table without the video column and add that when you have a few more of them ready maybe?
