auto-refresh performance

Post by Muroph »

lately xy have been using a lot of cpu power just with auto-refresh.
xy is using about 10% on average when on a watched folder, with peaks of 30%.
if i disable auto-refresh, it drops to 0% instantly.

however, on a fresh install, xy's cpu time is much lower (tested side-by-side with my usual install).
so it must be something related to my settings.
can someone help me find which of them?
My shared scripts:
TeraCopy Integration, Tag Manager, Comments Menu, Text Replacer, Image and Media Tools, Checksum Calculator, Video Calculator
only 5 URLs are allowed on the sig...

Hmmm, this could be related to the recent fix of the "magical auto-refresh suspend"! I would really like to know the conditions for this to happen. Does this happen only on specific folders?

Did anybody else note this?

this happens every time i have some file being modified in a watched folder, and it doesn't seem to be restricted to specific folders.
unfortunately, i deleted al my old xy betas a couple days ago, so i can't test it with on other versions.
well, even if i had them, i don't think i'd have much time to test tham this week.

if it helps, my settings for AR are:
-AR enabled (obviously)
-in network locaitons disabled
-no AR on file operations enabled
-tweak to disable AR on backgroung tabs enabled

TeraCopy Integration, Tag Manager, Comments Menu, Text Replacer, Image and Media Tools, Checksum Calculator, Video Calculator
only 5 URLs are allowed on the sig...

i always thought "non-current folders" = folders opened in tabs not currently being displayed = "background tabs". :?

anyway, i had a bit of free time today , so i looked for an older xy beta in my cds.
i found a 7.60.smth, and got the same results.
all normal on a fresh install, but high cpu usage with my ini.

i'll try to find the guilty setting myself if i get some more free time this week.
i think it could be something related to list style, icons, etc.

Good, I'm glad that's the end of my "magical auto-refresh suspend fix theory".

Try to turn off "Show File Info Tips" -- this has often been the culprit...

file info tips didn't make any noticeable difference.
but i found the culprit: icon overlays.
average cpu usage went down to about 1% when i disabled it.
the problem is that i really need icon overlays. :(

And the problem persists?

Any other icon overlay user can confirm this issue?
