Hard drive space

Post by Davoid58 »

I was wondering if there is a way to have as part of the "all drives" menu item and image showing the space used/free like the attached image?

So, I guess the answer is no?

It is. Showing hard drive space in the toolbar buttons is not currently possible. While it would be technically feasible, it would require constant monitoring of all drives. Since this information is irrelevant most of the time and can be quickly accessed via the "This PC" list, I have no plans to add this feature at this time.

There is a small, useful script that shows the available free space on the button bar. It works for me in the current version of XYplorer.

The next version gives you a basic overview in the Hover Box of This PC.

@ Don-

This is a nice feature. Thanks for implementing it.

Many, many, MANY years ago I decided I didn't like the "This PC" label and have always renamed it to the name of the PC. My main PC is named "phred." When hovering over "phred" in the tree or as a tab, the hard drive graphic does not appear. When I renamed "phred" to "This PC" it works as expected.

Might you be able (or willing) to take my use into consideration and modify how the graphic open upon hovering?

Thanks.

Same name as your user folder. This works?

How did you rename it?

On a related note, a few weeks ago I started seeing these small thumbnails on the drive icons of This PC

I've not been keeping up with the XY updates as of late, but looking through the logs and recent posts, I don't see any mention of such a feature. Is this a new toggle that was bundled?

I don't get them in a ::fresh instance.

Code: Select all

Windows 10

"This works?" as in having the same name for This PC as the user folder? Yes.
To rename This PC I right-click on the desktop icon and select "Rename." Right-clicking on "This PC" in the XY context menu does not have rename.

I renamed mine and everything works without problems. Maybe try something other than phred.
