Apply color to drives with low disk space

Post by laugust »

Apologies if this has been "wished" before. I did a search and found nothing.

Anyway, if it doesn't exist, I'd like a feature that allows me to colorize, in some manner, drives that are low on disk space. It would be nice if users could set the definition of low disk space and specify a color somewhere so that disk is immediately recognizable. I know I can show columns for total disk size and available free space, but as someone with low vision, it's easier to see a color than read the numbers.

If users were able to specify the background color of the free space value for drives that fall below a specified threshold or if they could change the color of the text of the free space amount for the drive in question. It might also be achieved if there were a colored icon next to any values that fall below the threshold. I don't know - I'm not a UI expert. I only know what might work for me.

Thanks in advance for any consideration.

A thousand pardons for the tardy reply. 😕

I'm talking about when looking at drives in a details view in a panel - perhaps in other views too, but my preference is for details view - see first image.

I was thinking it would be helpful to indicate low, medium or high disk space availability with colors, such as red, yellow, green, respectively. Currently in XYPlorer, you can get a sense for this if the free space column is showing, but a color indicator would allow users to see it at a glance. For those who prefer not to have the free space column showing, it would be beneficial if the color notification were still visible somehow - such as a small color bar column that could be shown, hidden or moved left or right to suit the user's preference - just like other columns in the details view.

I'm no UI expert, so perhaps there are more effective/efficient ways of displaying/communicating this info. It's something that Windows Explorer shows, albeit only in the Tiles and Content views - see 2nd image. I find this visual indicator helpful and thought others would too. Is there/could there be a way XYPlorer can do this as well? TIA for any info/consideration.

PS: I don't see my images showing. If you can't see them, please advise. Thanks.
