Crash when displaying folder with more than 5500 files

Post by LePAt »

Hello
I am using XYPLORER 28.20.0400 on Windows 11 Pro with latest patch, French language on a Core I9 PC with 32Go of RAM. Each time I am trying to display (detail or list view) a folder having currently 5574 files (jpg and mp4) it is crashing after a few seconds. Is there a limit in the nuber of file that could be listed? Thanks for help

There is no limit. XYplorer can list millions of files.

Could you provide a screenshot of the list, showing all columns?

Does it only happen in this folder?

Odd.

1) Are you using the context menu on any of these files before the crash?

2) If not, try to untick these two:
Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show file info tips
Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show Hover Box

Any better?

Hello

Hello
The problem is back. I have done the proposed configuration setup but no impact. It's now even crashing when trying to display a directory containing a mix of 2000 jpg and mp4 files (much more jpg than mp4), and the display was List not Details. It seems that after re-installing XYPlorer it is working for a certain time and after starts to crash (it's for this that updating from 0400 to 0500 version it was working). I will try to generate thousands of very light txt files to see if the problem remains.

Hello
I just did the test with 5574 .txt files (1k size) and it seems ok. The list was displayed in 1 or 2 seconds but, when it worked for mp4 & jpg files, it was much, much more time needed.

What's that mots-clés column?

It means keyword (normally from EXIF data in jpg file). The latest test on the jpg/mp4 folder was trying to display the list view, so without any columns.

Is there a way to get a dump of the tool when it crashs or checking the cache size, or ....
