Are there command line commands?

Post by spinner »

Is it possible to use TrackerV3 by command line commands only?

TV3 can be slow to load and sometimes I just want to search one of my usual directories for a particular file as quickly as possible. I figure a line command would be fast.

I know that some alternatives to TV3 like "A... R.../F.... L...." (heh!) have line command interfaces and the search goes faster when they are used.

TV3 is not slow to load here, maybe your computer is slow :)

If TV3 loads slow then it's the fault of the MS runtime which has to be loaded before any TV3 code can be executed. So command line stuff won't help here.

To be fair, my TV3 is not "desperately" slow to load.

But it sometimes can take a time which involved me waiting a few seconds. Maybe that is when my machine is quit busy. However that is the reality of the PC which I have got to work on.

So I kind of feel it might be nice to have a BAT file with a command line command in it which would execute really quickly without the need to bring up the window.

As I said, bringing up the window is not the problem.

However, if the current tree location is very deeply nested, there's some work to do. And here we see one of the reasons why I disconnected the tree location from Finding Tabs: when you select a finding Tab, the tree does not move. So: if you want to do a quick "find-on-load" define a Finding Tab to your needs, then open another tab and move the tree to a "fast loading node", e.g. "Desktop", then open the find tab again (the tree will stay on Desktop), and close the app.

Or do it my way: never close TV3 :) (since "minimize to tray" this is better than ever!)
