Update via ToolBar Button
I presently update XY via a script (::update 1 + 128;). Can I change that script to have it update my XY to the 64 bit version?

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
One option you have is to just manually overwrite the exe (with x64 ver) once, from then on it will just update as per normal to x64 versions.

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
Thanks jupe - I'll do that and report back.
So - just to be sure I have it right:
- download the x64 installer package
- extract it (somewhere)
- then copy the XYplorer.exe (64bit version) file over my existing 32bit version file?
AND - this will retain all my existing XY settings, Toolbars etc?

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
I recommend backup <xydata> first so you have a pre-x64 backup, but yes then
- download the x64 NO-INSTALL package
- open the archive in 7z/WinRAR etc
- close XY
- extract the XYplorer.exe & XYcopy.exe (64bit version) file overwriting existing 32bit XYplorer.exe/XYcopy.exe files
It will keep all settings etc., keep in mind the x64 is still only a initial beta, so its up to you if you want to wait for a first release.

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
Thanks again jupe.
I have done that - all seems to work, including so far, all my highly customized Toolbar buttons.
Maybe post these 'instructions' somewhere where they will be more public than in this post?

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
That's up to Don, but I'd assume once x64 is actually released there will be a GUI upgrade path of some sort available, possibly integrated in the installer, or maybe it will just install straight over the x86 version without confirmation, which may happen already, I never use the installer myself.

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
Er ..... slight update. I restarted my computer and all the settings were gone. XY started up with the Trial screen which was easily fixed by re-installing my license but all the settings were gone, Toolbars etc.
No real harm done however since I have a whole-of-machine image I can re-install to put everything back. Maybe I'll wait till X64 is officially released .....

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
Not sure how you managed that just following those steps, did you run XY as admin by chance?, anyway your <xydata> folder should be on your hdd still, probably in %APPDATA%, just reload it from File | Settings Special.

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
Yes - all there and reloaded. Thanks - a bit quicker than restoring an image. Maybe I'll try again and make sure I don't run as admin although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have.

You said "all the settings were gone". I doubt that.

Re: Update via ToolBar Button
Well, I've done it again as per jupe's instructions above - and ALL IS WELL this time.
All settings, my customized TB etc are in place and it says x64 at the top of configuration as well as the About screen - and XYplorer.exe is 41MB.
My toolbar Update icon told me to update, which I did and i am now on x64 version 27.90.003.
