Setting to delay Mouse Down Blow-Up

Post by docmars »

Hey there! Absolutely loving XYplorer so far. I can't believe I went this long without it.

The Mouse Down Blow Up feature is really great, reminds me of macOS Quick Look, very handy! I just have one issue with it... clicking on thumbnails causes Blow Up to trigger so quickly that I find I can't really select files by clicking on the thumbnail itself, forcing me to click the filename or the box of the item itself. This obviously doesn't feel intuitive because users will be most inclined to click the thumbnail to select a file.

I would consider adding a preference where you could set a delay (in milliseconds) before the blow-up preview appears while keeping your mouse button pressed. In other words, I'd like to press and hold for maybe 600-1000ms before the preview appears. This roughly falls in line with how macOS treats Quick Look using their Force Touch feature, where you can apply extra pressure to their Macbook's touch pad for additional actions, where one of them is triggering Quick Look on files, after pressing for about a half-second.

Thanks for considering!

Try it with this enabled:

Configuration | Preview | Mouse Down Blow Up | Mouse Down on Thumbnails and Icons | Allow dragging items by the thumbnail

Much better! Great suggestion, thanks! The only downside is file selections feel a little sluggish now, but I can live with that.
