Unable to Save Resized Columns

Post by TestMeister »

This started out as a thread with a problem i thought was specific to Paper Folders.
All the target folders have the same name so they can be distinguished by only using the immediate parent folder as shown below.

After shortening the Path and saving a Folder View I thought it would allow me to do this but no luck as it always reverts to the full path.
I tried this with normal folders and have the same problem, resizing the columns always revert back to the default size.

Save your settings once you've set the path width in the pf, that remembers it

No luck
On the PF tab
-I removed the active folder view
-Shortened the Path column (note Xy did not indicate Saving was needed)
-Folder View: Saved FV (Xy indicated Saving was needed)
-Saved Settings
Selected another Xy Tab
Returned to PF Tab
Full Path column was shown

Are there other settings causing this?

You said you saved your FVS, so with the paper folder open, go here:

View | Folder View Settings | Edit...

make sure you have "Column layout.." checked, set column width, then again

View | Folder View Settings | Save Folder View

These were the settings in place

I repeated the sequence you listed and saved Xy settings but the column width still reverts after toggling to a different tab.

Then most likely you just have Autosize Columns enabled, disable it, re-save FVS

Tools | Customize List | Autosize Columns

That was it, thanks!

I missed that setting, so many places to configure one option.
Given this setting and the column settings in Configuration\Styles, what takes precedent?

Autosize has priority.
