"go to" does not work anymore

hi, suddenly a strange & bad behaviour: i go to a directory with many files, sorted by name. originally entering e.g. "U" the cursor moves to 1st file starting with an U but since short it doesn't do but highlights all "U" in the names.
how to change back?

The drop-down is set to "Match at the beginning"?
