Expand Rapid Access Folders when copying path

Post by autocart »

Hi Don,

Rapid Access Folders are great!

However, it kinda ruins the happy feeling when I want to copy the path (e.g. from the AB) to another program (e.g. Agent Ransack or a save as/open dialog) if the Rapid Access path is copied as is.

Please could you implement a switch to automatically copy an expanded Rapid Access path. Please! This one would be a really important wish unless there was a different equally easy to use way with little effort of implementing.

regards

Never mind,
i found the already existing solution:

File menu > To Clipboard > Item/Path Name(s) (#101) or Ctrl+P.

EDIT: Actually it is File menu > To Clipboard > Item Path(s) (#103) or Ctrl+Shift+Alt+P to copy just the path to the current list in the list view.

Noticed a glitch:

When no item in the list is selected, then #103 (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+P) copies the path to the parent folder of the current list view.
I already hear you saying that this is by design, Don, but I want to already disagree. This is not how it should be. Not intuitive, not helpful.
And before you start saying that nobody ever complained, then this probably is because nobody ever used this command in this scenario (without selected items).
Please, think about it. If done right, the command will also be used without selected items. At least by one person. ;)

The way it works now, it does not matter whether tree or list has the focus. This would break with your change.

Select a folder in the tree and do Ctrl+Shift+Alt+P. What do you expect in the clipboard?

Yes, thx, i know that this works. But if no item is selected, then the copied path is unexpectedly one folder too short.

My point is: Ctrl+Shift+Alt+P works the same in Tree and List without selections. And it should stay that way.

Aha, ok, now I understand the tree reference. Ok, didn't expect an argument that I could agree to, but this actually makes some sense. Will have to think about it some more. Thank you for your patience.

I also see your point. Not easy to decide. Do your thinking, I'm curious to see the results.
