Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
Difficult.
Your goal is "calculate folder sizes on demand with a single click", right? What about a double-click right into the size cell of a folder to calculate the folder size? I think I could add that and it would be a nice enhancement.

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
Yes, I think that would work.
Don't know how much you consider UX, but something like this would ideally have some kind of indicator in the field that this can be done. A blank field does not say anything. Also, a doubleclick on a row, at least in my configuration, in any column I have visible, opens the folder. So this one single column would be an exception, again,a bit of a UX problem without any indicator. It could be just something on hover, not visible all the time.
On the other hand if a user knows it might not be so necessary.

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
hi! i too think this would be a good idea. question, for those of use that use full row select, double-clicking any of the cells takes me into the folder (which is great). would this option for the size column override that behavior ? i would think it would, but just thought i would mention it for the 6 of us that use FRS !

Yep, needs some more thinking. I have an idea now, but I'll wait a little longer before posting it...

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
I think it's great. One more thing - multiple selection. If the click is into one of the selected row, all the selected should be calculated? If the click is on an unselected, only that one is calculated (same as currently) .v26.20.0205

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
To me, that's not the expected behavior, and in that case you can just press Shift+F5.

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
hi! i agree, this is really nice and thank you for adding it. it was easy enough to enable and use; however, after getting used to Brano's script method and how it handles the multiple selections, i reverted back to using that.
whenever i multi-select anything for any reason, my expected behavior is to have whatever i am doing apply to the selected items. maybe reconsider this ? i would think if i selected folder 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and clicked any of the circles, e.g. 3, that it would show the sizes for the selected entries (like the script does).
thanks for taking time for our feedback.

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
No one? Okay, I will tie the behavior to this setting: Configuration | Information | Tags | Apply tagging to all selected items. It's a little messy, but I think it makes sense. If you are the apply-to-all-selected-items kind of guy, you want this behavior everywhere, otherwise nowhere.

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
hi! thank you. while this would work, i agree it is messy because it really isn't really tagging related. for me, i already have this option enabled so it would work regardless.
i am confused as why you wouldn't think the expected behavior of performing/applying "something" to everything that is selected isn't normal ?
for example, if i cut/copy/delete/move to other pane/etc. multiple selected folders or files, they are all processed, not just a single item. i don't see this folder size calculation as being different (especially if a user-created script does just this).
i wish others would have chimed in as i can't see anyone multi-selecting items and only expecting the selected action to only apply to a single entry.
i would have loved to hear their explanation, maybe i am missing something ?

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
While I don't have the need to display folder sizes on many occasions, I would expect this to be done for all selected items.

Re: Folder sizes calculated on demand with a single click
Sorry, -1 for binding that to this option. I would not come to the conclusion that this is responsible for cells that are not tags^^
Please try to find a different way (simple suggestion: a new config gui option but it would be fine for me if this is only a tweak...)

Okay, seems like my intuition is not mainstream. I'll adjust it. (The feature, not the intuition)
