Help! XYPlorer recently has become VERY slow

Post by rjhoag »

Hi Everyone,

I've been using the program for several years now. I have not made any changes and use it in a very simple, basic fashion. All of a sudden it takes 2-5 seconds for the program to respond-including just clicking on a menu item (started about 10 days ago). It used to be incredibly fast and I have a very powerful workstation. I do not use any scripts. Just to drag and drop a file can take 5 seconds. I have the lates build (downloaded today).

I'm a sole business owner and certainly not a coder. I need help getting back to where it was as this is very much slowing my productivity.

Any help would be greatly appreciated (forgive my lack of knowledge to many of the technical ins-and outs of the program in advance).

Have you rebooted your PC recently? If not, do so.

Yes I have, numerous times. I've tried everything. It literally just started. It's been working fine for years.

Do you get the same problems with a fresh instance? (You can quickly start a fresh instance by pasting fresh; into the XYplorer address bar + press ENTER)

If you have Dropbox / Onedrive running, does it get better when you quit these applications (and restart Xyplorer afterwards)?

Thank you very much for your replies. I did try both of those options ,but with no luck. I did a fresh install of the latest version, which is now in trial mode and loaded my old catalog (I really only use a catalog of my most frequent files/folder and works great for my business (very simple stuff). So far it's working at lightning speed as it did before. If I try to open my old config file, it opens up the registered version of the program again and is slow.
I'm going to test it out for a few days in eval mode. I do remember having an issue when I bought a new workstation and reinstalling the program. I don't even mind paying for the program again at this point.

If you like, send me the slow Xyplorer.ini version (copy it, rename it to Xyplorer.xys)
Write me a pm and attach it

I have a program that can spit out all the config changes (atm at least regarding gui config options) and then you can change these in the new (fast) XY instance to eventually see if it's really a config setting or not...
