File ratings and customisable thumbnails

I would really like to see functionality that allows files to be ranked with a star rating....much the same as you would with music in windows media player 10.
I have lots of ebooks I would like to be able to do this for. Would also be nice to have an easy way to create a personalised thumbnail image and description for a file...ie for movie files, grab screen shot for thumbnail from movie somewhere or add front cover of ebook as a thumbnail.

To do this I'd have to employ a database or something like descript.ion files. I (still) don't like the idea of doing this. See also here:

Personalised thumbnail image ... possible, but not on top of my list.
