Hide hidden items from status bar count?

I seems to have hidden items (probably thumbs.db ?) listed in the status bar file count in branch view of just some folders with only PDFs and JPGs...is there a tweak so it doesn't list the 246 'including hidden items', just the 239? The 246 items is confusing me.. Thanks.

Edit - just confirming there are 7 Thumbs.db files - definitely want to hide those from any count...
