Using XY 25.00.0100 on Win10 64bit with FoxIt PDF Reader 12.1.2.15332.
Windows File Explorer will show PDFs in its preview pane.
XY will show PDFs in its floating preview window, the preview tab in the info panel, and in the preview panel.
Yet I can not get a PDF to preview when I mouse down over the icon in the file list. Nor when I right-click the icon. This used to work but hasn't for a while, but of course I can't say when that changed.
XY shows FoxIt as the preview handler.
I'm using a user-defined preview handler for this as it never worked when using the pdf option under document files or text files. There are -two- GUID records for FoxIt under 'previewed formats' and am not sure if that's correct or if there should only be one.
Lastly, I disabled us 64bit preview handlers for preview under shell integration. That worked twice today, but once I closed and restated XY, it stopped working.
Might it be worth it to do a complete uninstall of FoxIt and then reinstall it?
I recall when I first stated using XY and needed help with this same issue, it was recommended to use PDF X-Change, which worked for a while. I didn't like it as the default PDF reader and uninstalled it. I'm will to try it again if there's a way to only use it for previews and still use FoxIt as the default PDF reader.
Thanks for any insight to getting mouse down on a PDF icon to work again.

Re: Yet Another PDF Preview Issue
One comment to the Foxit preview handler.
In earlier versions, it had the bad behavior to copy any files it previews into the temp dir.
They were left there and not deleted.
A completely useless function.
I don't know if the actual version still does it.
It was the reason for me to stop using Foxit preview.

Re: Yet Another PDF Preview Issue
Thanks Horst, that's an interesting observation. It is truly amazing how many applications create temp files and don't remove them when the operation is completed. Once a month I go to AppData > Local > Temp and delete everything.
As for FoxIt, I'm using 12.1.2.15332, which isn't the latest version, but it's from the past couple of months and apparently there have only been minor updates since then. Trying to dig through the Local >Temp directory and previewing some of the things there, I don't see anything that was a previously opened PDF. So perhaps that issue has been resolved.
I really would like to stay with FoxIt and as I said in the OP, Mouse Down preview has worked in the past, so I'd like to get it working again.
