Hi, I'm new to all of this, so forgive me if there's something obvious I overlooked.
just bought a license and I have a couple of questions.
• XYplorer is using Windows Photo Viewer (old media player) to display files that already have a set viewer program/app.
How do I set the default image viewer ? .. or better yet, how do I make XYPlorer use my Windows' settings ?
The stranger thing is the thumbnails and the file icons show my chosen "viewer" programs but XYplorer pushes the old Windows media player. hmm. I've looked in config but had no luck.
• AVIF thumbs appear in the XNViewMP browser window, but don't appear in XYPlorer. In XYPlorer I am shown an XNViewMP icon.
Is there a reason .AVIF/HEIC files are not displaying as thumbnails ?
(I have multiple programs that display HEIC/Avif without a problem and I think I have the code installed. (conjecture: I also have various plugins direct from Avif.io) )
Thanks, I look forward to learning whatever you're willing to inform me about using XYPlorer.

Hi and welcome to the club!
You say "XYplorer is using Windows Photo Viewer".. when you do what? Sounds like you are opening the files?

Menu Tools | Customize File Associations..., then untick this line:
Or was it unticked?
"Windows Photo Viewer" {:Image}>::run """%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe"" ""%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll"", ImageView_Fullscreen <curitem>"Or was it unticked?

Re: AVIF thumbs and default image viewer not being used. (new licensee)
It was ticked. I un-ticked it and all is working as expected now. Thank you.
I made the mistake to assume the same behavior for all image types that are assigned the same default image viewer app, ..it looks like I have a few things to learn here.
I'm all for learning. ::thumbs::
I'll be sure to breeze through the docs and find my patience at the same time... to avoid posting basic Q's in here.
Thank you for your help.
@Anyone (AVIF related)
• If you were able to get File Explorer (in win11) to show Avif thumbs, I'd love to hear how.
