The Width of Name column
Hi,
I would like to have adaptive width of "name" column - actually I want to see whole names of files and folders.
(Almost always I use the List view.)
I'm able to see whole names of my files.
But if there is only the list of folders, then the column "Name" is wery thin - so I'm unable to see whole names.
Please see screenshots as attachments.
There are plenty of settings, but nothing works for me.
I have tried to set up adaptive width as well as fixed width of the "Name" column, but nothing happened - the view remains still the same: for files the width is adaptive, but for folders is always fixed as very thin.
Please, help me. Thank you!

This should be ticked: Tools | Customize List | Autosize Columns

Re: The Width of Name column
In your first screenshot the "F" button is pressed. That means you are using Folder View Settings for that folder. They are probably responsible for the narrow column.

I have tried even press or unpress the "F" button, but unfortunately nothing happened - as seen on screenshot

Re: The Width of Name column
So Autosize Columns is ON, and Folder View Settings are OFF, and the columns are not autosized when you enter the folder? Seems impossible.

It's like that ... I'm as confused as you :-) ... :-(
All these settings have no effect on my screen - the view (name column width) is still the same under various settings - as shown on the first two screenshots: adaptive, when there are files, but thin, when there are just folders.

Yes, "List".
Now I recognised - if I switch it to "Details", the column is adaptive - see screenshot

No - that double click in top-left corner doesn't work.

Re: The Width of Name column
I assume the column is just one pixel too narrow?

Re: The Width of Name column
Yes!
The column name is always only shortly tightened, no matter how long the names are.
This should be a clue.
Actually this happen also in files, not only folders, as I described before - see screenshot.

Re: The Width of Name column
Which font and font size are you using? And which screen resolution?

Re: The Width of Name column
Thank you for helping me!
Font Segoe UI 9 - as seen on screenshot.
I have 3 monitors (MS Surface 7 + Benq + Philips), but the situation is the same even if I have single "surface" monitor (2736x1824 - recommended).

Re: The Width of Name column
I could reproduce something similar at extreme font sizes (>= 24) and fix it. Maybe it fixes your issue as well. Upload soon.
