Blurry Thumbnails - Best Rez for Thumbnail Sizes on a 4K Monitor?

Post by Lusayalumino »

I've messed around with a lot of different thumbnails sizes, but can't seem to get it right. My current sizing is great as it allows the maximum number of pics to be visible, but they're blurry. These are the two primary sizes I'm using:
352 x 192
512 x 288

Any way to get rid of the blurriness? Any recommendations for better thumbnail sizes / ratios?

1) Cannot see any extensions. What kind of files are these?

2) Did you note that the two vertical ones are not as blurry? Hmm. :eh:

3) Thumbnail quality can be selected here: Configuration | Preview | Thumbnails | Quality

They're all .jpg.

I think I'm realizing that they're not blurry, but rather more that they're distorted (skewed / stretched). The vertical ones are automatically adding the side edges in, and keeping the correct image proportions.

Perhaps I can't have-my-cake-and-eat-it-too? If I want to view the maximum number of thumbs, they'll be distorted; if I want to stop the skewing they'll have to be square (e.g. 512x512)?

No, they should not be distorted or blurred.

1) Can you send me one of them by mail?

2) Have you seen my 3rd point:
3) Thumbnail quality can be selected here: Configuration | Preview | Thumbnails | Quality

I just emailed you two pics, but it may be moot...

I did indeed switch the quality to "Smooth"... but they still looked distorted (I did refresh the thumbnails and they looked high quality, but still distorted).

But just now, I tried switching the quality to High Speed > Refresh > back to Smooth > Refresh... and now they look solid. I'm not sure if my mind was playing tricks on me, or if something changed -- but I think I'm good.

Thank You!

I tested them anyway and they look great. Nothing is blurry. Looks like we can wrap this up.
