Got a new Samsung 870 EVO 2TB and about to install it and a question occurs:
For a system disc choose GPT for 64Bit and 32Bit use MBR.
( That is MBR for Master Boot Record
and GPT GUID Partition Table )
Not sure if XY is 64Bit for all uses. Would it make any difference it this is not to be a 'system disc ?'
What is best for XY and SSD setting

Re: What is best for XY and SSD setting
This is a question about if you need to be able to boot from it (via UEFI / secure boot) or not. If not: It doesn't matter. If yes, choose GPT

Re: What is best for XY and SSD setting
Thanks for the reply.
I should have stated that this SSD cost $100 - a new low for a quality product.
There were some complications installing the drive. I ended up with a bill for $60 to have a repair shop to nu-sort the problem(s) - he had to go into the bios and a couple of other routines. The point here is that something was fixed because XY suddenly has sound effects for any custom move or conflict. Sounds like slime is being thrown around
Question: is there a way or a place where those sound effects can be turned down or perhaps off? Does this significantly slow down move operations?
It was a pleasure to move lots of big stuff around using XY and have NONE of the problems experienced in years past. Thanks!

Try this:
Configuration | General | Controls & More | Miscellaneous | Play a sound on certain events

Re: What is best for XY and SSD setting
Thanks for the reply.
1. Now I have a 0.7 TB SSD that I would like to have fully indexed for super fast searches. I have the option checked in XY that "allow background indexing" Is there a more speedy way to do this where indexing is compelled?
2. Same goes for regenerating all the icons for images. Waiting for a folder, with more than 7000 items to do this, gets very boring with basically a locked screen?
With the more than 7000 items in a single folder - is it possible to temporarily 'turn off' the generating of icons while waiting for a better time?
All that had more or less been done on its own over a period of years. Now it is a new world.
