No. If you were experiencing some odd ball issue with thumbnail quality as discussed earlier than initially you may want to clear the cache, but once done you should never have to do that again. Once in the folder and in the desired thumbnail size, selecting "Refresh thumbnails" (or running CID #501) from the View > Caches" menu should be all you really need to do, but that's only once also and that shouldn't be necessary at all since XY will automatically build the thumbs when you enter the folder if in a thumbnail view.
If you have "Show cached thumbnails only" selected in Configuration > Thumbnails (I don't), then when you enter an image folder that you know you've added new images to, then you would select "Create missing thumbnails" from the View > Caches menu. If "Show cached thumbnails only" is unchecked, then any new images added are automatically added to the thumbnail cache when you re-enter the folder.
