I do a good bit of video editing and this feature would be a huge time saver if I can get it working. Right now, the video preview won't play for all of my mp4 files unless I choose "Windows Media Player Legacy" as my application for those files. Even then, it doesn't play automatically (in spite of that option being set), so I have to press play on each file. I get the "Playback failed: Automation Error" and the preview tab shows "Previewed as thumbnail"
Ideally, I use VLC as my default media player for mp4's but I know I can use Portable File Associations inside XYPlorer. The files play in pretty much every media player I've tried (VLC, Media Player Legacy, the new Media Player, Windows Movie and TV player, etc), so I'm not sure how to get XYPlorer to play them and autoplay the video previews.
Let me know how else I can help to answer questions so you can help me.
Thanks!

Re: Video Preview not working
"won't play for all of my mp4" means it plays some? Is there a pattern?

Re: Video Preview not working
Weird. It works for me and many others. Currently I have no explanation.

Re: Video Preview not working
I probably installed some CODEC pack, K-LITE or so, years ago. Maybe that's why it works.

Re: Video Preview not working
I installed XYPlorer on my laptop and had the same problem as my desktop.
So, I downloaded K-LITE and now the video previews are working in XYPlorer, regardless of which application I choose as the default to open those file types. Thanks for the trail of breadcrumbs to lead me in a direction to a solution.
