Quick Access, Recent Files
Hello,
i did search around this forum to find some solution, but not sure if there´s any. It´s what basically prevents me from switching to this otherwise wonderful file manager.
So here´s the problem:
I´m very used and comfortable with the Windows 11 Quick access -> Recent files view.
From what i´ve read so far, this is supposed to be under "links" in xyplorer. Well, at least not for me. There´s only a desktop.lnk and a download.lnk sitting there.
So i start to wonder if that´s possible at all?
Thanks for any helping hand.

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
Nagra, I don't know about the Recent files, but I do know that XYplorer lets you insert folders into that Links directory you mentioned. See my screenshot. I just drag and drop the folders in the tree on the left side, onto the Links word itself, to insert a new folder there. I put a red circle where the Links directory is.

Thanks for your answer.
But unfortunately that´s not what i´m looking for (unless there is - and someone can tell me the path to "start"). i think it´s just a handler in the registry?

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
Sorry, I should have read your OP better. You aren't interested in the Links folder, just the Recent Files. I thought it was both. OK well that's what I get for skimming. Hopefully someone else will chip in, I'm a newbie here and I don't know how to get what you want.

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
I'll see if I can add "Recent folders" and "Recent files" in a way similar to File Explorer.

Thank you very much!
It seems to be possible for "third party explorer replacements" - i´ve seen it with at least one of your competitors.
Crossing fringers that you´ll find a way as well

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
In Win 10 File Explorer seems to lists *frequently* used folders and *recently* used files. I have no idea where those frequency data come from.
What are you after? Recent folders and files?
* * *
BTW, for the "Recent" item to appear under Links it may be necessary to create a shortcut to "%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent" in the Links folder (%USER%\Links\).

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
Today's beta should handle the Recent folder much better:

hi! trying out the new beta and i receive this message when pasting in %USER%\Recent to the address bar. after the error message, the tree will update and go to the actual location; however, clicking on the Recent folder name in the tree also causes the message below.

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
With this .0411 beta I get the same "Subscript out of range" error when I enter "%USER%\Recent" in the address bar.

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
I assume the path "%user%\Recent" is empty on your system. Error message should be gone in next beta. You have to find out yourself where that path is located.

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
In my case (in case it helps) with Windows 11 (latest), when using
%user%\Recent in address bar I get: My folder: C:\Users\ken\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items contains: You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
@klownboy: Life is full of surprises. When you open "Quick Access" in File Explorer, can you somehow find out which path it is actually showing? Where the contents come from?

Re: Quick Access, Recent Files
I've checked to see recent files and folders in File Explorer properties, I hadn't previously. I do not see Quick Access anywhere. I see "Recent" under my name in the Nav Panel. Clicking on it, it sends me to "my name > Recent". Obviously, that's a link. Properties does not show a target for I assume it must be to:
Edit: I added "Show User folder" to XYplorer in Configuration and I see my first name and under it is "Recent". When I click on it like others, I get and Error 9.
C:\Users\ken\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items When I go there, it says I have no recent items.Edit: I added "Show User folder" to XYplorer in Configuration and I see my first name and under it is "Recent". When I click on it like others, I get and Error 9.
