<get dimensions > template custom column doesn't work

Hey ive been trying to figure out how to make my list of images soft by dimensions and its never worked. right now i have the dimensions column (not sure if i created it or it was there cause i been trying this for a while) I see yall heave these codes put up like "<get dimensions "<cc_item>" "%w% x %h% [%r%]">" but i dont know where to put these fields. I just want to make dimensions sorted correctly. Im assuming that what the original poster was wanting to do so I am adding my question here, i dont understand what to do with yall answers yall gave him.

I made that colum just now. Just figuring it out. But Id like to show you screenshots of some of my issue with the sorting. In the picture the YELLOW arrow is pointing at the first dimension column i had that doesn't sort correctly as you can see in the middle there is a smaller size than the others. the second and third column of dimensions i made in the last day. and they are seeming to work now. The area of the screen shot in green is showing all 3 of those columns and their configuration. And then at the bottom its in thumbnail view but all the thumbnails are showing the image as super small. When i click and hold on the image it pops up on top of everything until i release the mouse button and it shows so small just like the dimensions its reading but you can see the actual dimensions of all those images are way bigger than that. I have tired refreshing the thumbnails and everything. I didn't even realize that the thumbnails were showing wrong until today trying to take screen shots of them column forms.

PS: i edited about 4 differnet images together of screenshots and took out any empty space as not to waste precious real estate (lol) any, did i do something wrong? WIth the sorting though, now i think the second and third column of dimensions i made in the last day are sorting correctly. SO i guess i can just delete the first one and use any of the other 2, so i assume i just made that first column wrong. SO just the thumbnail view showing the wrong data and dimensions is all that I cant figure out yet right?
