Auto-subscription to your own forum topics
When I create a new topic in the forum, I am usually interested in knowing when it's been answered. But in order to start receiving notifications, I have to manually subscribe to it, and sometimes I forget. I think you should be subscribed to your own topics by default. You can always unsubscribe when get bored by people trying to help you

Re: Auto-subscription to your own forum topics
Weird, it works that way for me. Maybe because I'm admin.
Anyway, there's no way to change anything here.

Re: Auto-subscription to your own forum topics
When I start a new topic, or even reply to an existing thread, scrolling to the bottom of the page (even before typing anything) "Notify me when a reply is posted" is already enabled.
Perhaps it's because I enabled this: click on your username at the top right of the forum > User Control Panel > Board Preferences > Edit notification options > enable notification and/or email to whatever you wish.

Re: Auto-subscription to your own forum topics
The only one disabled for me was "subscribed forums". I'm not even sure what it does, couldn't find a way of subscribing to one. Anyway, I have all enabled now and it didn't help.
P.S. I think I've figured out what's going on. When you create the post itself, there is an option to notify when a reply is posted But you have to tick it every time and I'm gonna keep forgetting it likewise
PPS (after re-reading your post)
Now once I enabled it replying to you it keeps being enabled in this specific topic when I create another post.
But if I try to create a new topic it's disabled by default. I'm gonna try this out with a new topic when I have a reason to create one!

Nope, it didn't do the trick. When I create another topic, it's disabled by default...

It's always pre-ticked for me.
