Auto-subscription to your own forum topics

Post by Evolve »

When I create a new topic in the forum, I am usually interested in knowing when it's been answered. But in order to start receiving notifications, I have to manually subscribe to it, and sometimes I forget. I think you should be subscribed to your own topics by default. You can always unsubscribe when get bored by people trying to help you

Weird, it works that way for me. Maybe because I'm admin. :? Anyway, there's no way to change anything here.

When I start a new topic, or even reply to an existing thread, scrolling to the bottom of the page (even before typing anything) "Notify me when a reply is posted" is already enabled.

Perhaps it's because I enabled this: click on your username at the top right of the forum > User Control Panel > Board Preferences > Edit notification options > enable notification and/or email to whatever you wish.

The only one disabled for me was "subscribed forums". I'm not even sure what it does, couldn't find a way of subscribing to one.

Anyway, I have all enabled now and it didn't help.

P.S. I think I've figured out what's going on. When you create the post itself, there is an option to notify when a reply is posted

But you have to tick it every time and I'm gonna keep forgetting it likewise :)

Now once I enabled it replying to you it keeps being enabled in this specific topic when I create another post.
But if I try to create a new topic it's disabled by default. I'm gonna try this out with a new topic when I have a reason to create one!

Nope, it didn't do the trick. When I create another topic, it's disabled by default... :?

It's always pre-ticked for me.
