Can't drop URL with long text onto an XY pane

Windows 10 x64, XY 23.00.0011

When I try to drag & drop this URL onto an XY list pane
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30318684/
I get a red "drop failed" message in the status line, evidently because the URL text is so long. This is with Long Filenames enabled.

I could work around this by manually creating a blank link first and then typing in suitable url text but that's fiddly.

So instead I drag & drop to the Windows desktop, which simply truncates the url text and at least creates the needed link. I edit that right there and / or just drag that into the XY pane.

It would be nice if in this situation XY would do the same as Windows desktop, or present the url text in an editable form for me to reduce and then proceed to make a link.

For now I will just truncate it as necessary to make the drop work.
