More wishes
Don't know if I should give each one of these it's own thread, but here goes
1) It would be nice if an inline edit box popped up when you double-clicked on a tab (or hit a hot key) to allow you to manually enter the path you want to navigate to, with autocomplete. If that's not possible, then at least have autocomplete for the text box in the Go To dialog. Actually, a related request is that text box should be a combo box with both history, and auto-complete. I believe there are prepackaged samples of this on Code Project.
2) I don't quite know how Explorer does this, but, if some other window has the focus, and you click on an icon in explorer to start a drag-drop operation, Explorer doesn't take the input focus. This allows you to drag/drop onto the window that had the focus. If it didn't do this (as Tracker does), you wouldn't be able to drag/drop onto the window that had the focus, since explorer would now be covering the other window. This is only a problem if one of the Explorer window totally overlaps the other window. Let me know if you need further explanation.

Yes, interesting. And it's only with the list apparently -- the tree does grab the focus. Nice, but not so important, I think.diarrhio wrote:I don't quite know how Explorer does this, but, if some other window has the focus, and you click on an icon in explorer to start a drag-drop operation, Explorer doesn't take the input focus...
Your other wish is on my list. Note, however, that this list is very long...

Yah. As long as it's somewhere on your list, I can live with it. One more request while I'm bombarding you with them (I hope it improves your product at least) .
I'm trying to point out things that I feel are missing as soon as I find them before I forget about them. It's these kinds of things that always turn me away from other products.
Is it possible for "File->Info to Clipboard" to allow you to copy the current path you are browsing, regardless of whether you have a file selected or not? Often times you just want the path of the current folder you are browsing and don't want to have to select a file to get it.
Thanks again!

Yep, several ways:diarrhio wrote:Is it possible for "File->Info to Clipboard" to allow you to copy the current path you are browsing, regardless of whether you have a file selected or not?
1. context menu of tree folder: copy path
2. CTRL+P if no file is selected (else it will copy the filename, too)
3. CTRL+SHIFT+P always

keep on wishing
diarrhio et al.,
just to give another feedback: most of your wishes I find are valuable ideas which I've noted down and plan to add to the program when I find the time. Alas, right now I have other things to do; but don't hesitate to develop more feature phantasies and keep on wishing.

Well, since you're asking for it, here goes!
1) Do you use Firefox? You should
It has an extension called Tab Mix which allows you to do some pretty neat customizations with the tabs (I like it much better than the Tabbrowser Preferences extension). You can do things like add a close button to each tab, stretch each tab to fit it's contents, and control their open/close behavior. Mainly what I like is the close button on each tab.
2) Ability to single click an item (not on the expand collapse button) in the tree view and have it expand collapse a folder. I kinda like the way Explorer has it, but maybe I just am used to it.
3) Have the find files results window be it's own tab to keep it separate from what folder you were browsing before. Having the search results pane replace the file list is kind of confusing when you are trying to navigate back and forth between the two.
More to come...

I'm surprised you're still here since the icon overlays did not happen. It's just one number missing (index in sys img list) -- really ridiculuous but I spent some good hours in vain to find a way.diarrhio wrote:More to come...
What's so great about a close button on each tab? What a waste of space! Isn't Ctrl+W handy enough?

Well, I didn't know that the image overlays weren't happening. I didn't know you were still stuck. I'm still holding out hope that you'll get them in there. Have you tried posting to the MSDN newsgroups? They've been quite helpful to me in the past.admin wrote:I'm surprised you're still here since the icon overlays did not happen. As for the close button, seeing as how the tabs are currently taking up the entire width of the list, I don't see a close button being much of a space waster. ctrl-W is great, but sometimes you have your hands on the mouse and it's just easier that way. This is not a big priority at all; just a suggestion.
Cheers,
D
