PDF preview in the preview pane
How do I get Adobe Acrobat Professional to stop opening my PDF files when I want to only just preview them in the preview pane? They preview just fine in the floating preview window.

The thread brings up an issue that has bedeviled this workstation since it was new about a year ago. From the very start of installing XY with a Lifetime License the IP | Preview displayed PDF's nicely including left-click blowup but Floating Preview yields only hexadecimal and ASCII data.
The machine has never had Adobe Acrobat or any of its variants installed.
Have tried all suggestions made it past to no avail. Anyone with new incites to try? (Do not mean to hijack the thread but hope someone reading the topic may have a Eureka moment.)
