How do I get a fixed name for Move Here to...?

Post by Terry Byrne »

First things first, happy new year to all!

As of this holiday I need to get my stuff organized and found "move here to new subfolder" as well as "select items", so I'm selecting by html, mht or htm them moving those files to new subfolder. As they are research material I name them "research" (duh).

Problem is that "move here to new subfolder" automatically picks a suugestion name out of a file but never if the selected items are folders, which i think is a bug, so each and every time I need to rename again as "research".

It was fun in the beginning but now it is turning to be a nuisance. I don't like to lose the auto naming ability but sometimes it is convenient to have the option to chose a name which then will be applied to each new folder. A friend told me he could script a solution but soon he went stuck and quit.

Best wishes to all, producers and users!

If you list the "rules" how items should be processed - a small script solution wouldn't be the problem.

a.) one or more files -> move them to a new subfolder named research (while the files retain their original name)?
a.) one or more files and one ore more folders -> still a new subfolder named research and all files and folders are moved into it (retaining their original name)?

Correct / incorrect? Any other "rules"?
