Old position of a folder after descending + ascending?

Post by highend »

Hi,

Let's say I have a list of 100 folders. I can see about 44 of them at once. I scroll down the list to e.g. number 70 (it's name is "Rails") and place it in the middle of the pane (so I have about 20+ over and 20+ under it, that are still visible). Now I descend into "Rails" via a double click and ascend again to it's parent folder. Now the rails folder is at the bottom of the pane and not in the middle like before. I don't like this behavior and I could swear there was some kind of setting to get back the "old" behavior. Unfortunately, I'm unable to find it (even with jump to setting...).

Any hints? :)

Regards,
Highend

The good news is I'm getting the behaviour you want both in my (fairly old) profile as well as with a clean profile, which implies it's the default. The bad news: I can't find the relevant setting or tweak either.

The former might mean it's a non-default setting, unless it's one of those combinations of settings which causes problems... :?

Sure? I don't get it in any configuration with Up (Backspace). The desired behavior is indeed the default with Back (Alt+Left).

The point here is that Up is not a history function and hence does not know about previous scroll positions. It just goes up and ensures the selected item is visible.

You're right, I don't see it anymore. :? :oops:

@nas8e9

Thanks for trying to find that setting! I even compared a fresh with my existing ini with Beyond Compare and wasn't able to find it, too...

@Don
I've reassigned my keyboard shortcuts (up = alt+left | back = backspace). Sometimes I'm a bit lazy and want to use the doubleclick in an empty area. Could you please add an option to Extended - Mouse: "Dbl-click on empty space goes back" so that we can utilize the same behavior?

Thanks,
Highend

More such refinements will come with CEA (Custom Event Actions).
