Taming the Right/Second Pane
Taming the Right/Second Pane
If I open two panes, the left pane (the original) opens to the folder I want it to (whether it is the only pane visible or if there are two panes showing). However, the right pane opens always to "Computer", regardless of whether I set it to show a folder and then click the Save All Settings button - when I close XYplorer and then re-open it, the right (second) pane will always open to "Computer". How do I "tame" the right/second pane to do what I want it to? Obviously I am missing something (probably something simple -
.)[Thanks for help offered.]
Re: Taming the Right/Second Pane
Do you have "Remember most-recently-used lists" checked in Configuration - Startup & Exit and under "Apply to..." at least a checkmark before "Tabs"? Should help you in your case...

No, I didn't, and I'll try it out for a while - thanks for the tip.highend wrote:Do you have "Remember most-recently-used lists" checked in Configuration - Startup & Exit and under "Apply to..." at least a checkmark before "Tabs"? Should help you in your case...
I'm not sure I'll necessarily like it better, though (although I might), since it saves my last settings, rather than saving the "preconfigured starting point" for each pane that I was trying to achieve (and which I could for the left pane, but not the right) (although at least I always could "tame" the right pane to open in my preferred List view instead of the default Details view).
Thanks, highend, for at least providing an option for me to try out...

maybe you just didn't save tabset(did it wrong) for 2nd panel?fwcetus wrote:I'm not sure I'll necessarily like it better, though (although I might), since it saves my last settings, rather than saving the "preconfigured starting point" for each pane that I was trying to achieve (and which I could for the left pane, but not the right)

Re: Taming the Right/Second Pane
Hey, thanks, eil. I spent a little time trying to play with the tabset settings. (First I turned off the recently applied "Remember most-recently-used lists" setting.) I had to do some deleting of some apparently corrupted tabset settings files, and then saving the tabset on the right side pane finally worked. So, thanks, eil, for sending me in the right direction.eil wrote:maybe you just didn't save tabset(did it wrong) for 2nd panel?
Re: Taming the Right/Second Pane
Well, it worked for a while, but now it fails to work properly again, the right pane resorting to Computer instead of my chosen directory. I guess something is still corrupted (?).fwcetus wrote: Hey, thanks, eil. I spent a little time trying to play with the tabset settings. Re: Taming the Right/Second Pane
give it a try with "clean install", disable all tabset autosaving settings, and set-save your tabsets as desired.
