Change path on open

Whenever I open XY my file tree defaults to c:\programfiles(x86)\XYExplorer. Cant find where to change it. Under config/permanent startup path I tried blanking that out, then saving. Cleared the Remember most-used lists. Saved the configs but it still opens the same way. What file do I need to kill that stores that.
At the same time, one trick that PowerDesk had (which was my old FileManager replacement) was that the default open path was an argument in the shortcut. So If I wanted 2 icons I could make each use a default open path just by editing the shortcut. I am not finding a simple way to do this in XY. I want to be able to just click an icon and open XY with a different drive/folder default.

Quoting from XY online help:
Start Path
The INI contains all settings including the current start path. You can however overwrite this value by stating the start path in another (unnamed) switch, e.g.:
XYplorer.exe /ini=myini mystartpath
You may also pass a start path relative to the application path, e.g. "..\..\". Passing "." will startup at application path.
Note: The startpath switch must be the last in the command line.

In the XYExplorer directory I found Startup.ini which had [Appdata] Path=%addfata%\xyexplorer. Is that what you mean?
The only other ini is in the c:\ directory. There is program ini and the line in there says startpath-c:\, which is what is in the config section of the program.
I took out the XYExplorer in the startup.ini but the program still opens to c:\program files(x86)\XYExplorer.
As for multiple icons each with a different startup: SO I copy the XY icon and change the execute line with a different mystartpath for each instance? I.E. f:\ g:\, etc? Or is there a diffferent INI file for each as well.

I meant that you can use XY exactly as you have used PowerDesk. You wrote:

So, just do the same: edit your shortcut to read something like:
Forget ini - you do not need to specify ini. (But you can, if you wish to. Ini can be either the same one, or the different one, as you wish.).
EDIT: Regarding:

I do not have any Startup.ini at my place - maybe someone else could help you with that.

Is this still happening?

Thanks for the reply.
yes, you are right: If I add F:\ to the target line of the shortcut it opens tree just as predicted to f:\ drive. I made multiple copies and edited each and now I have a icon taking me directly to the drive/directory I want. DUH. I did try that once except I was putting the drive letter within the quotes.
Thanks. The help menu was the typical help menu..long on bytehead stuff and not written for an everyday user. Didn't need to edit any ini file..just add the argument to the target line.
Thanks again

We should get our own forum category! We could call it "Why I Left PowerDesk for XYplorer." I wonder how many of us will end up here? I used PowerDesk for about 12 to 15 years. I'm almost glad they went to hell, I was so used to the program that I never looked around. If it weren't for Advanquest, I never would have found my way here, and XYplorer is so much better. I don't think I would run PowerDesk again if Avanquest gave me a free copy of the mythical Version 9 to make up for all the hassles they caused me.
Go Don - run, be free.... (OK, corny, but it just fit so well)

I'm close to totally agreeing with you. Powerdesk did rock for years. Avanquest definitely sucked the profits out and has left it to falter. It’s almost as if someone said "geez, it doesn’t crash too much on Windows 7...let’s release it as Version 8". I will say though that it is still the most user friendly File Manager replacement there is. Before I settled on XY I tried 6 file manager/Powerdesk replacements. All of them suffer from Byte-head terminology and awkward ways around things. Yes, I know the only people that still buy utility software for the most part are the techies however, there is a good market for Windows replacement programs if the companies would just understand that everyday users want extra features as well as techno's. Perhaps a 'Standard and Advanced' level of these programs would help. In either case, I still have a small list of items that Powerdesk did beautifully that I want to slowly suggest. For now, I am just waiting for native support of compressed files.

I just added this catchy statement to my testimonials, thanks!
