Winzip not showing up as a context item
New user warning, I may be missing something or otherwise doing something wrong but.... I don't seem to have Wnizip in my list of items in the file context menu. I am aware of the 32-64 bit issue and while I am using a 64 bit version of Windows, Winzip did appear in the context menus of my previous file explorer (xplorer²), both the 32 bit version and later the 64 bit version of xplorer².

Nevertheless you need to do the necessary steps to make XY show the context menu under a 64bit OS, i.e. install the 32bit shell extensions parallel to the 64bit ones. There are a lot of threads discussing this, so please search the forum for how to's.

Re: Winzip not showing up as a context item
There are two things you can check:
- in XYplorer, do you have Configuration > Extended > Context Menus > Default items only in shell context menu, enabled? If so, please disable it;
- are you running the latest version of WinZip? As of 15.5, WinZip does install both a 32- as well as a 64-bit shell extension.

Re: Winzip not showing up as a context item
I think it was pretty clear from my post that not only are the 32 bit extensions installed, they were (and are) working with the 32-bit version of xplorer². I did search and I specifically addressed the most common cause of this issue in my post....RalphM wrote:Nevertheless you need to do the necessary steps to make XY show the context menu under a 64bit OS, i.e. install the 32bit shell extensions parallel to the 64bit ones. Apologies for misreading. You did check the XYplorer setting with regard to shell extensions I mentioned in my previous post?garage_logician wrote:I think it was pretty clear from my post that not only are the 32 bit extensions installed, they were (and are) working with the 32-bit version of xplorer². Yes, it was set to the correct value.

That's weird: I've just retested the combination of Windows 7 x64 SP1, XYplorer 10.10.0004 and WinZip 15.5.9510, and both Windows Explorer (64-bit) as well as XYplorer (32-bit) show the WinZip context menu.garage_logician wrote:nas8e9 wrote:Apologies for misreading. Yes, it was set to the correct value.
If you want to get to the bottom of this, could you try running XYplorer with a clean profile? The easiest way is to copy just XYplorer.exe and XYcopy.exe to an empty folder and run XYplorer.exe from there.
