Update version 9 to version 10.0, user button icons missing

Post by dks035 »

I have 6 user buttons which access programs. An example: Notepad onclick: openwith 'C:\Windows\notepad.exe';

The icon field: C:\Windows\notepad.exe

My problem is that I'm not getting a proper icon after the upgrade to version 10. I've tried reseting the caches, starting the program as administrator so that it updates the ini file property.

I've had no success at all. Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks

Hi and welcome,

Sounds weird. Have you tried the following:
1. creating a new button with the same icon source;
2. making a copy of notepad.exe in a different location of which you're sure you can both read from and write to, and then use that as icon source;
3. in case you only have the icon problem with notepad.exe or specific .exe's in general, a different source for the icon?

To make sure, are there any other signs XYplorer has trouble either reading or saving its config?

I moved the file notepad.exe from the windows directory to a directory on a second hard drive. I then went and right clicked, chose customize toolbar, added a new user button.

I then pointed the button to the new location of notepad.exe and had the same results. All this while running the program as an administrator under windows 7 64bit.

Notepad is only one of 6 buttons, I have a database, photo software, zip software......

I hadn't upgraded the version of xyplorer on my thumb drive so I downgraded and all is back to normal.

Thanks, but it did not generate any ideas in me.

Everything works fine here as ever. The related code has not been changed since long.
