Shell Icons Question
Hi, I'm a new user and have a question regarding shell icons. I currently use Xentient Thumbnails which creates a nice little 16x16 icon of various picture files in Windows Explorer. I've also used VuePrint Pro's VueIcons which does the same thing. I find these programs to be very handy and was disappointed that neither seems to work with XYplorer. I've tried some other file managers, including xplorer2, and it shows these icons. Is there a reason that I can't seem to get this working in XYplorer and if it currently won't work, are there any plans to include this functionality in a future version? IMHO XYplorer is the best alternative file manager out there, so I would really like to get this working.

Re: Shell Icons Question
Really? I'm using the standard techniques. I cannot see why there should be any differences to other FMs. Do you have a comparative screenshot?

Re: Shell Icons Question
Hi, thanks for the reply. I've attached some screenshots below for XYplorer, xplorer2, and Windows Explorer of the same folder. This behavior I'm seeing with XYplorer happens for all filetypes that Xentient Thumbnails creates icons for (i.e. bmp, png, jpg, gif, etc.). I do notice that on random occasions XYplorer will display an iconized picture for some picture files, but they rarely match the actual picture. They sometimes don't match a picture that I've browsed to either, so I'm not sure where the icon is getting pulled from. Perhaps someplace deep within Xentient Thumbnails cache? I've attached an example of this as well below the FM comparison screenshots (I merged the 2 XYplorer pictures due to the 3 file limit). I right-clicked the file XYplorer displayed a picture icon for to show that the actual picture is completely different. The same file in Windows Explorer shows the correct icon. Thanks again for taking the time to reply and I hope this helps.

Re: Shell Icons Question
OK, I think this is due to some performance optimization in XYplorer. For example, I never thought PNG files could have file-specific icons, so I optimized icon retrieval for them using a cache.
This could be changed of course. But with minor priority I'm afraid.

Re: Shell Icons Question
Any priority is better than no priority.
Unfortunately, this is happening for all picture filetypes and not just PNG files. With more time I'll be able to better determine if this interrupts my work flow enough to matter. Thanks for the replies and any consideration towards a solution is good enough for me. Have a good day.
