XY hangs in previewed formats configuration page

Post by sfranky »

I get this weird problem. I go to previewed format in configuration, and all is well (i.e. the numbered list underneath the main categories is scrollable . But when I select one of the other categories (web&office, font, image, audio/video files), the program hangs (50% usage in task manager) and my language bar vanishes and reappears almost every second.
I am running windows7 x64 on an amd X2 5000.
My other pc which has almost the same hardware, and same OS doesn't display this behaviour.

thanks !

There was a similar report some months ago, which turned out to be caused by unsupported Windows modification. Did you use something like RT Se7en Lite to customize the install DVD/USB stick or did you use some tweaking utility post-install?

But that issue had been fixed.

Code: Select all

v9.30.0020 - 2010-07-27 21:00
! Configuration | Previewed Formats: Focusing the top listbox would
cause a total freeze on systems with DBCS codepages (e.g.
      Chinese). Fixed.
I'm curious what's the problem now...

The problem in that other case was removing the "Default Computer Program Access" app. I don't know whether that can be removed post-install, but if your tweaking utility came near this it might be a possibility.

Sorry, I missed that one. Given the constant appearance of the language bar, that seems the more likely problem of the two.

@sfranky: Could you post the language version of your Windows and also your regional settings?

Under menu Help | Various Information I have this:

Code: Select all

LocaleID: 1031
ThreadLocale: 1031
Default ANSI CodePage: 1252
Active CodePage: 1252
DBCS CodePage: No
What's yours?

Thanks, I will try the greek when I find the time.
Can you switch to some non-greek (e.g. Windows-1252) to check whether this helps?

PS: Is your other pc (that doesn't display this behaviour) also greek? In that case we can stop looking into this direction...

I will redesign the interface. This is a touch too mysterious to me. I'll work around it. Who knows how many innocent users are hit by this and never say a word?
