Restore All Settings.

Currently we have File > Settings > Save/Backup All Settings, but not an easy way to Restore all settings - or pick one of them and restore it from a backup for immediate use (probably a restart will be required...).
-Is it possible?
-Can this remember last used directory?
Thanks!

File > Settings > Load Configuration  There's no granularity for pick 'n choose of settings though.

Load Config allows for .ini restore, only.
That's why I asked for a full/partial .dat restore.
I'm currently involved in some tagging usage and realized how much this could help - it's easier for a novice to screw everything and not having an easy way for him to select and restore, this can turn into a deal breaker.

This little script is doing a great job on the backup matter:

Code: Select all

  copyto "D:\Backup\<dyyyy-mm-dd>\XYplorer v<curver>",
    "<xypath>\XYplorer.exe|<xydata>\*.ini|<xydata>\*.dat|<xydata>\FindTemplates";

Right, Restore All Settings would be a logical complement. It is actually planned but I won't get to this very soon. The tricky part about it is that the current settings will be overwritten entirely and lost beyond recovery. So it is a very risky thing to do, contrary to backup all settings which just increases your safety without any risk.

-auto-backup first to a "latest" backup folder then execution of restoring...? This would add an EXTRA level of safety and automation to the whole thing at the same step as turning things easier for you, I guess.

Yes, that's a good idea.

Somewhat related (it's always a good idea to put stuff together so when the opportunity window comes up, it's all in one place):
-Ability to print formatted report of Catalog, UDC, etc?

Can you provide a simple option to restore all the factory settings?

Reinstall. Even easier if you're using the Portable (no-install) version.

Go > Go to Application Data Folder = delete everything there and next run XY will start clear with factory defaults. Surely you can backup those files just in case, or delete only some, to say keep your catalogs or tags. If you want to exactly restore defaults only for app's settings alone - delete only "XYplorer.ini".
