I really like XYplorer (bought the lifetime pro license about 6 months ago), but there have been a couple times when I've shelved it and gone back to Windows Explorer due to the simple fact that my lack of understanding was frustrating and impeding my productivity. I know there's a lot of power under the hood, and I keep coming back to it and finding numerous little reasons it's superior to anything else out there, but I'm still learning and finding ways to make it "fit" my way of working.
To help retain users like myself, I'd like to humbly request that XY's learning resources, such as:
- the Wiki (although it's "unofficial", it's an incredible boon to XY's user community, and an excellent complement to the built-in program help)
- the Product Tour / Feature List (contains a wealth of descriptive usage scenarios, screenshots, and even videos)
- maybe the Tips section of the forum
be more prominently advertised, such as links in the program's Help->On The Web menu, and maybe a prominent "Help" or "Usage Guide" button on the home page that would organize links to all these things in one place (maybe even just a big orange "Help" or "User Guide" link up by the "Download" and "Buy now" links, that would go to the existing Support page).
I'm sure this would seem redundant/overkill, but from a new user's perspective, I think the wealth of helpful information is somewhat fragmented and hidden from view. For instance, the Wiki link on the website is a tiny text link most of the way down on the Support webpage, which is also reached via a tiny text link on the home page. And the Product Tour and Feature List (the Links To Documentation columns), while good selling tools, are also very useful for current users as well, yet they're somewhat tucked away under the Product page - not the first place I would look now that I've already been "sold" on the product.
Just my 2 cents - I figure anything you can (reasonably) do to help your users get the most out of the product, and especially to help convince those users who are "on the fence" to stick with it, is worthwhile.
Thanks for all your hard work!
