Hi guys,
I have a question for those who are on Win7: does auto-refresh work ok?
The reason I ask, on my Win7 machine, if I'm running a program that is producing a large output file, and that program is taking a while to do it (in my case using ffmpeg to convert some video, which can take an hour or so), XY does not progessively update the output file's as it grows (it remains at 0 bytes for the entire time). Pressing F5 does not update the display. Only when the program finishes, does XY then display the final output file size.
If I do the same in WinXP, XY displays the output file size as it changes.
I've checked the XY config between Win7 and WinXP and they look the same to me. Does this happen to anyone else?
Cheers
John

Can't confirm with 9.20.0007 on Windows 7 x64: when using GetRight to download a file, the file size increases during the download.
I take it you have Configuration > Advanced > Auto-refresh > Refresh during file operations, enabled in addition to View > Auto-Refresh?

Do you have Win7 x86?nas89 wrote: Can't confirm with 9.20.0007 on Windows 7 x64: when using GetRight to download a file, the file size increases during the download.
Yes I do, which only makes it more interesting.nas8e9 wrote: I take it you have Configuration > Advanced > Auto-refresh > Refresh during file operations, enabled in addition to View > Auto-Refresh?
Just tried 9.20.0007 no difference.
Thanks for the thought.

Additional thoughts regarding your Windows 7 x64 config:
- Security software: does disabling the file on-access scanner make any difference?
- Any other permanently running software that might interfere with directory access (backup, sync, etc.)?

Re: Auto refresh on Win7
I have tried running with nothing in the background apart from normal windows stuff to no avail. If anything, the XP machine has more security stuff running on it than the 7 one (macfee corp ed with all the bloated trimmings).
I don't have anything that can be avoided running the background. I try to keep Win7 lean and mean: I do a lot of video conversion and need all the CPU I can get.
sorry, I must be getting tired. Sleep beckons...
Cheers

Final thought: do you get the same problem with different programs that incrementally create files (a browser doing a large download, for example)?JohnM wrote:I have tried running with nothing in the background apart from normal windows stuff to no avail.
