Right Click context menu integration (7zip)

Post by Tanker IP »

I installed 7Zip on my Vista64 system. In Windows Explorer I have access to 7Zip when I right click a file or groups of files to put them in archives. I want to do the same thing in xyplorer but 7Zip won't come up in the context menu there.

Any fix for this?

Any workaround that lets you select files in XYplorer and put them in archives?

Thanks

Oh Well...never mind. I just decided to intall WinRAR. That way I can get the context menu setup.

Yes I have a workaround that works for me:
1. Get yourself a copy of the 32-bit 7-zip package (preferably the same version as your 64-bit one). I got 7z915.msi to accompany 7z915-x64.msi.
2. Make your way to the place where you have your 64-bit 7-zip installed and rename the file 7-zip.dll to something else (7-zip-orig.dll perhaps).
3. Open it up the 32-bit 7-zip package (7z915.msi) and look for a file called _7zip.dll.
4. When you have found it, extract it to the directory where the 64-bit 7-zip is installed, calling it 7-zip.dll.
5. As administrator, register the dll file that you have just copied into place, like so: regsvr32 7-zip.dll.

Now I have the 7-zip context menu in XY, but using the 64-bit 7-zip engine. 8)
This worked for me.
Cheers

John
So by changing to a 32 bit DLL, are you know running 7Zip as a 32 bit app when run from the context menu?
If not, is there any other loss of 64 bit function?

Thanks
Chris
