I am really impressed by the speed of the Find Contents of files feature.
However, I cannot find what file types or extensions are supported, either in the Help file or the webpage or Wiki.
What File types are currently supported?
What needs to be done for an unusual file type to be supported?
Does XY support iFilters?
Thank you

Re: Find Content of Files Questions
The Find Contents feature only scans the raw data of a file. So file types are not a question here. You cannot find text in rich interpreted contents like PDF or DOC. IFilters are not supported.

Thanks for the reply.
I have many files, 1000's, that use GZIP compression (open standard). Would you be able to "look inside" these files?

Currently not. But of course technically it would be no problem to add this. Maybe later...Tom wrote:I have many files, 1000's, that use GZIP compression (open standard). Would you be able to "look inside" these files?

I have this very problem too. Simple XML wrapped up in gzip that I'm trying to figure out how to index.
