Ctrl + Q request(s)

Post by phitsc »

I wish Ctrl + Q would toggle the Info Panel the same way Ctrl + F does it.

I also wish Ctrl + Q would do something "useful" on certain well-known file types where there is no preview. Specifically, for me it would be useful to see the version info for .exe and .dll files (the tab right next to Preview in the Info Panel). I could well imagine that version info is not very useful for other people though.

This was brought up before by me - http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... it=preview . It's a (bad) feature in my opinion.

Didn't know about Ctrl + 1,2,3, etc. That's good enough for me. Thanks Gandolf!

(and I did search for this before posting, I promise  )

Good, but I must admit when I now tried Ctrl+Q (I normally do not go this way) I was surprised that it did not close the Info Panel. So maybe you (and Gandolf) are right after all. Hmm.... other opinions?

Yes, its not very consistent.
1) If i hit ctrl+Q without selecting any item then IP closes.
2a) If image or music is previewed then ctrl+Q blanks the preview and does not close IP.
2b) But if i do ctrl+tab to switch tab and do ctrl+Q then IP closes.
3) If office or pdf docs are previewed then ctrl+Q does nothing (docs steal the focus)

2b) I cannot repro.

Anyway, should it better behave like Ctrl+F (stop preview + close IP when doing Ctrl+Q on a busy preview)? I think so now...

Steps:
1) Start from any tab in IP except preview
2) Select an image file
3) ctrl+Q (should see image in preview)
4) use ctrl+tab to switch between tabs and come back to original tab (no more preview now)
5) ctrl+Q closes IP.

I dont use ctrl+Q much but i guess it could behave like ctrl+F. But the question is will it workd for docs, pdfs etc? Because these take away the focus the moment you preview.

I certainly would prefer it to behave that way. I'm surprised you guys don't use Ctrl+Q as it's too comfortable a shortcut (for the fingers) to just leave it unused :)

Is there an advantage to let the IP stay open on
pressing Ctrl + Q, but just close the preview?

To stop an playing preview (vid, sound) we can use the space bar.

So i think too that Ctrl + Q should be an toggle
to open IP with Preview tab and close the IP again.

Thanks for the tip with Ctrl+1,2,3

but i would like an option to "tab" to the IP tabs. ('cus i don't like pressing Ctrl+5)

Or an shortcut to open IP on first press with Properties tab,
then switch to Version on second press, and so on till the
seventh press of this shortcut close the IP again.

Is there such an option?
