Actions Not Being Logged for Undo - part 2

When moving files from list to folder in tree actions were not logged. Thus, NO UNDO possible. Even copy actions in the same pane were not logged. From one panel to another all is ok.
Win XP sp2, XY 8.80.0034.

If you're really running on 0034?!
An update to the newest beta usually solves a lot of problems and makes it easier for all of us trying to reproduce a bug.

Currently 8.80.0070 (latest Beta). Still the same.
-did you TRIED with your current version? I bet you'd got the same behavior! Tested with another computer and same happens.
-double checked as I write - problem persists.
Thanks!

No sorry, I didn't try to reproduce your bug.
My notion was rather meant as a general hint.

We got users who hesitate to install beta versions of software and therefore run the latest official release of XY - understood and accepted, but those who install beta's with less concerns I would expect to check whether their bug still exists in the latest beta, because every beta between the last official and the latest beta release is 99% of the time just simple history. (I had to revert to a previous beta only once in my 5+ years of using XY)

Just my .02

I cannot reproduce any problem here.

How exactly do you do the moving of files?

1) Select any file from files list;
2) Right click it and move it to any folder on the tree;
3) See "Actions Log" (I use the toolbar button for that) - last action is NOT logged. If you just CTRL+Z, another action will be prompted for undo, NOT the action done in step 2.

I see that this is somewhat linked to the "html files/_folders" question discussed in another topic (on Sticky Selection).

It seems that actions are logged when moving from pane to pane, not from pane to tree.

Also, when moving files to a drive that's about to completely fill up, when reaching zero space available thus leading to a canceling of a move/copy, undo is not available for that action prior to file moving/copying.

1) Select an amount of files that could fill up a partition. Move/copy those files.
2) Wait for partition filling.
3) When prompted that there is "No space available" for the next file, try to Undo.
4) Undo will not undo step 1. Will undo another logged action prior to step 1.

FWIW, neither can I...just tried it as described twice and all works properly (I'm on 8.80.70).

As a matter of fact, the majority of my moves are from list to tree so I should likely have seen this before if something's odd...not to say someone else may not be having an issue but list>tree getting logged works fine here.

Narrowing a bit:
-It seems that it's not working on ANY moving action, once after reading the Action Log I only see Copy, Rename and Delete actions.
-There are Move actions logged, but they seem to be prior to upgrading to 8.80.0070.
-Configs are to "Log actions...", "Remember between sessions...", "100 entries", "Prompt before delete WITHOUT recycle bin...", "Show in toolbar...", Allow non-sequential..." and "Show options in menu".
Currently can't test it on another system (XP sp2 + Win2K), this machine is a XP sp1.
-IT LOGGED ACTION WHEN MOVING THRU SHIFT+F6, but not responsive when using mouse!
-...but failed again with .htm/.html/_files generated by Firefox..., meaning: it undid the .htm/.html moving, but companion "_files" were left behind.

Same here. Undoing mouse dragging moves is probably the use case number one for Undo -- I would have noted if this has a general problem.

Which makes it interesting that it does not work on your system. No idea why.

Update on this:
WinXP SP 3 (not a custom system anymore; SP updated to the latest; local version, not english; same hardware as on previous testing); XY 9.30.0028 (tons of improvements since 1st post - barely half a year has passed... I LOVE XY head spinning development! :mrgreen: )

-XY logs for undo: moving files using Panes> Move to Other Pane, also thru CKS; rename operations (even on tree!);
-XY does NOT logs for undo: dragging from pane to pane; dragging from tree to pane; dragging from pane to tree; dragging inside the tree.
Other XP based machine shows the same issues. Win7 does not have such problems, as far as I can remember (despite several Win7 issues or features users reported). Hope this is not a sign of support being dropped for WinXP, since we can't say properly that 7 itself is fully supported...
-side note: if you have the same folder opened in both panels and move it around, the inactive pane does not throws errors, blank panes with messages of any kind or goes mad any way - it just gently readjusts itself to the new path. Simple like that. Cool!

Sorry, but that's nonsense. All such file operations are logged, no matter from where to where.

At the off-chance that it's a setting, could you post a screenshot of both:
- Configuration > Undo & Action Log;
- Configuration > File Operations?

(I appreciate that you've probably checked and re-checked those settings, but sometimes it helps for others to look afresh.)

The obvious settings are there, of course. I'd personally enable background processing and operations queueing, but that has nothing to do with the problem you're reporting.

To eliminate the small possibility that some *combination* of settings causes your problem, could you try it with a default configuration? (The easiest way is to copy XYplorer.exe to an empty folder and run it from there.)
