whats the difference between properties and info?

whats the difference between properties and info?

there is an icon on the toolbar and it brings up the properties panel
I also added the info (blue icon) to see what it did. I cant see any difference between them?
Why doesn't everybody have a great user name like mine?

The blue icon ensures that the properties tab is selected. The other icon just shows the panel.
