Re: Auto-refresh and Auto-rebuild of Tree
It's not done automatically for performance reasons. I spend a lot of effort in avoiding the kind of flicker you get in WE when the tree updates.
The normal F4 should do in most cases. Which tree are you using, mini or maxi?
You can easily map the F4 key to Rebuild Tree if you prefer that.

Re: Auto-refresh and Auto-rebuild of Tree
Some time ago, I filed what I thought was a bug report but turned out to be a feature request. At the time, no-one else posted about seeing it as worth having; I'm more than happy to +1 now. (Although 2 is probably not enough for a wholesale rejig of the road map?
) Kidding aside, I'd like a more automatically current tree, especially for the current tab.

Re: Auto-refresh and Auto-rebuild of Tree
Since my Tree works nice and smoothly all the time, allow me a stupid question: you have auto-refresh enabled, haven't you?

Re: Auto-refresh and Auto-rebuild of Tree
You say "[the tree] still contains removable hard drives that have been removed some time ago" -- I have never seen this. I have 2 different USB drives (one of them a stick), and use them for years with 100% reliability in XY's tree. That just means to say: I don't know where to look for the problem.

Re: Auto-refresh and Auto-rebuild of Tree
Yep, hope so too. Apart from the icon overlay refresh which i know how to fix (just need the time) I cannot improve the tree refresh (and actually cannot reproduce any problems here). But sooner or later I get every bug that is a bug, you know.grindax wrote:I still encounter this semi-regularly. Just yesterday I plugged in, and then later removed, an external hard drive. On both occassions I had to force rebuild the tree in order for it to recognize that the drive was there and then gone. This is with v8.70.0100 on Windows 7 x64.
Oh well. Hopefully in your adventures with Windows 7, you'll encounter this at some point, and be able to track down why the tree isn't refreshing automatically.

Any feedback on this? (USB drives, and icon overlays)admin wrote:The next beta might bring some improvements...admin wrote:Yep, hope so too. Re: Auto-refresh and Auto-rebuild of Tree
On Windows 7 x64 RTM with 8.70.0154 beta, connecting, changing the drive letter and ejecting an USB drive is immediately reflected in the tree. The same goes for connecting an external HD via USB.admin wrote:admin wrote:admin wrote:Any feedback on this? (USB drives, and icon overlays)grindax wrote:...

Re: Auto-refresh and Auto-rebuild of Tree
Thanks. Too bad. So I will remove the changes I made.grindax wrote:So far so good on the tree auto-refreshing. Although the problem wasn't easy to reproduce at will, so I'll continue to keep an eye on this to see whether the problem has truly gone away.admin wrote:Any feedback on this? With regards to not all icon overlays being recognized, I see no difference. On the machine I have access to at the moment, the files where the overlays weren't being displayed, still don't have them. It has Dropbox installed, and the files ending in .url and .lnk, for example, don't have their overlays displayed even though they're sync'ed to the cloud. Windows Explorer does show these overlays.
With regards to the auto-refreshing of icon overlays, this still isn't working. I've tested by opening a text file, that Dropbox is configured to sync, and made some changes. In XYplorer I see the overlay changing to the blue one which indicates that the file now needs to be uploaded to the cloud. But as soon as it has been uploaded, the overlay doesn't change to the green one. In order to see that I need to manually refresh.
