Configurable default in "Action on click"
When I add an item to the Catalog, I almost always want the "Action on click" to be "Open Item". However, the default is "Go to Location". It would be convenient if the user could configure the default setting for "Action on click".

Re: Configurable default in "Action on click"
How about simply remembering the last choice?

2nd thought: maybe not a good idea. Because that would mean that new catalog items also would have to be born in the last action type. Is that good?

Re: Configurable default in "Action on click"
Nothing wrong with that. In my case (I almost always use "Open Item") that would mean I would continue to get that action without having to do anything. If I wanted to use "Go to Location" on some particular item, I could simply select that from the dropdown, and then re-select "Open Item" when I wanted to resume the previous behavior.admin wrote:2nd thought: maybe not a good idea. The idea of my original suggestion is simply that the user gain control of the default action when a new Catalog item is added. This could be done either by
(1) making the choice of default part of the Configuration dialog, or else
(2) remembering the previous choice from the dropdown until a different one was made.
Either method would be helpful. Method (1) has the advantage of being visible and explicit; method (2) has the advantage of requiring no work from the user.
Either method leaves the user free to choose another action for any item; the only difference is that the next item added would be born with the configured default under method (1) and the last action chosen under (2).
